Exagro Secures Funding for Transeo Autonomous Solar Farm Maintenance System

The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), through the New Industries Fund, is pleased to announce that Exagro (founding company of Inventif) has been awarded the 2023 Innovation Booster Grant. The application, titled Transeo (now known as SolAIClean) Autonomous Solar Farm Maintenance System, has secured funding of $40,000. With over 440 applications submitted, the grant program was highly competitive, being more than ten times oversubscribed. This achievement highlights the exceptional innovation and potential of the Transeo system in advancing solar farm maintenance.

Projects

01

SolAIClean - Mark 1

Solar farms currently face high operational costs and disruptions due to reliance on labor-intensive maintenance methods and outdated preventive technologies. These challenges result in inefficiencies and increased risks, creating a clear need for automated, intelligent solutions that ensure consistent and effective maintenance.

SolAIClean Mk1 (formerly known as Transeo) is an innovative, autonomous robotic system designed to address these challenges. Its multi-component design provides:

  • CleanScan: An advanced module that cleans solar panels using counter-scrubbing brushes and a microfiber sweeper, detects hot spots with thermal scanning, and marks defective panels for replacement.
  • Moove: A self-driving shuttle that transfers CleanScan between solar arrays using machine vision and a launchpad mechanism for precise alignment and deployment.
  • Home: A central hub where diagnostics, sensor calibration, and maintenance activities are conducted to ensure system reliability and readiness.

By delivering continuous, automated maintenance, SolAIClean enhances solar farm efficiency, reduces operational risks, and meets the growing global demand for solar panel maintenance solutions. With the solar panel cleaning market expected to surpass $1 billion by 2026, SolAIClean positions itself as a vital innovation in a rapidly expanding sector.

Dust-In-Time

Dust in Time is a system engineered to optimize the cleaning schedule for solar panels. It accomplishes this by monitoring energy losses from dust accumulation on one panel while maintaining the cleanliness of another. This data allows for the precise determination of the optimal cleaning frequency required to maximize energy output.

Data will be collected throughout the project's lifespan.

Project duration: In Progress (12 months estimation)

03

SolAIClean - Mark 2

Building on the success of the original system (Mk1), SolAIClean Mark 2 incorporates valuable lessons learned from its predecessor. Key improvements include:

  • Reduced Weight and Size: Streamlined components make the system lighter and more compact, significantly improving transportability and deployment across diverse solar farm layouts.
  • Optimized Efficiency: Enhanced design ensures easier handling and faster operation without compromising functionality.

These advancements reinforce SolAIClean’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge, practical solutions for solar farm maintenance.
